They say a clean desk is a sign of a sick mind, so my garage must be the healthiest place in the desert. Between the RC prototypes and the Canyon Lightning coming to life, there isn't a square inch of floor space left (and I wouldn't have it any other way.)
The state of the build:
✅ The Stance: The front and rear fuselage are mated, and you can finally see the "lines" of the plane.
✅ The Seat: My body-molded foam seat plug is in place. It still needs a final sand and carbon wrap, but the ergonomics are dead-on.
✅ The Wings: Mocked up the root ribs against the 12" fuse mounts. Seeing the 48" chord against the frame really shows the scale of this bush-plane-to-be.
Every RC plane in the background was a lesson in aerodynamics that led to the Canyon Lightning™ dream. I'm taking that model building precision and scaling it up to a 38HP, carbon-hybrid bush plane reality.
I'm building fast, light, and right here in the salty desert dust.
Follow me and watch this masterpiece come together! And don't miss the weight reveals and test flight!
